What Umbra does

Each deposit, private transfer and withdrawal can carry a protocol fee in basis points, set by governance and capped at 5% by the program, plus a public tip to the relayer that submits it.

Umbra, built mainly on Solana, runs its V2 protocol (Nimbus) on Robinhood Chain as a single shielded pool contract that holds every allowed asset, with ETH and WETH sharing one private balance backed by native ETH. Deposits become private notes; a later transaction proves ownership with a zero-knowledge proof, so private transfers to registered recipients and withdrawals to another address are not linked on chain to the deposit, while getting tokens in and out stays public. Addresses are screened at the edge of the pool and users can grant selective disclosure. The pool went live on 22 October 2026 and on 3 November held about $1,350, almost all ETH, from 44 depositors. External audits by Accretion and zkSecurity were under way as of late October.
